Believe it or not, students at Washington State University don’t use the crosswalks properly. I felt this project gave me an opportunity to create a how-to video teaching students how to use a crosswalk. Knowing my audience would respond better to humor than shaming or seriousness, I decided to create an awkwardly dry, humorous video to convey this message. Some of the challenges of this project were filming by myself and getting clean audio when filming next to a busy road. Once on set, my lavalier microphone stopped working so I had to rely on my shotgun microphone to capture the best audio I could. Thanks to some amazing Adobe tools I was able to make it sound perfect. I learned that it is always better to film with other people. My end product will always suffer if I have to be director, camera operator, actor, and audio engineer.
